How Waste Fuel Works in a Car

Powering Vehicles with Waste Fuels

Diesel and gasoline powered vehicles are the current means of transportation in most of the world.  However, recent studies suggest that these types of vehicles contribute greatly to air pollution and global warming. If you want to drive a car that does not contribute to poor air quality, it might be time you look to vegetables for inspiration.

In some Asian countries like the Philippines, coconuts parts have been tapped as great sources of energy. This form of biodiesel or cocodiesel is composed of Coconut Methyl Ester or CME. This CME is engineered and modified to meet fuel specifications.

Using cocodiesel promotes a lot of benefits for you and your car. With cocodiesel, there is a very fast combustion rate. That is because this fuel has a very high oxygen content and cetane number. These substances make the cocodiesel more easily combustible. A faster combustion rate ensures that the fuel potential is maximized. This reduces the emission of black smoke that is usually associated with wasted fuel. With greater fuel efficiency, you can experience savings in your fuel consumption since you get more power for less.

When cocodiesel is blended or combined with fuel, there will be two main effects on the vehicle. First, the vehicle’s fuel efficiency will be up to its optimum state. Second, the fuel will be fully burned.  This leads to an increase in the car’s mileage.  The use of cocodiesel greatly reduces your car’s emission of greenhouse gases. In fact, for every liter of this biodiesel, there is 3kg less of carbon dioxide as exhaust.

Aside from the coconut, other plants can also become sources of clean, environmentally-friendly fuel.  The form of fuel called bioethanol is derived from crops like sugarcane, cassava, molasses, and potatoes.  Bioethanol is a very light alcohol that is produced when vegetable sugar or starch is fermented.  Bioethanol is slowly gaining popularity worldwide, and is now being used in countries like China, Thailand, Brazil and the Philippines.

So, what does bioethanol do for your vehicle? First, bioethanol is a cleaner fuel.  It has very high oxygen content so it can be combusted more thoroughly. It does not leave residue in your engine and it does not produce black smoke. Second, bioethanol has a much safer emission. Since this fuel burns better, it does not release unburned carbons. Also, bioethanol comes from plants so it is a renewable resource. Unlike fossil fuels, bioethanol will not run out anytime soon. As long as there are crops, bioethanol may be produced.

Bioethanol can also be a great boost for the agricultural sector. With the growing bioethanol industry, farmers will have a new market which will potentially give them a better, newer source of income.  Bioethanol can also provide poorer nations the option of supplying their own fuel instead of relying on importation. This decreases their reliance on foreign suppliers and lessens demand for foreign currency. Bioethanol can therefore help improve the economy.

There are a lot of people who are worried about how these biofuels will affect their cars. Actually, bioethanol is of a much purer composition so once it goes through the car’s engine system, it can even clean up rust and other contaminants or residue that have built up using conventional diesel or gas fuel. The cleaner engine will then contribute to the overall performance of the vehicle.
